GONE WITH THE WIND…PANTS

Hey Beauties! (is convinced people who don’t hate Mondays aren’t from this planet!) I have a new obsession (what else is new?) and I am fully dedicated to being the best at everything I do.. so therefore I feel the need to prove my obsessive talents (at least that’s what I tell myself when I’m swiping my credit card left and right *nervous laugh*I have been literally stock piling windbreaker pants and can’t stop buying them (waaaahhh) but before we go any further, what do you call them? I know them as “wind pants” but now I’m seeing they are called “wind breaker pants” some still see them as joggers and just add the material to the term making them “nylon joggers” (pinky high club) what’s the word? I’m going to refer to them as wind pants because that’s what I know them as…. so ya, I’m addicted to wind pants and have been testing them out for different occasions and styling them in all sorts of bomb a** ways.

Oh, We Heard You Coming!

I can tell you that I remember being 14-15 years old wearing a pair of navy-blue Nike wind pants and a Justin Timberlake shirt and thinking I was the ISH. I bring that up because as soon as I threw on wind pants as an adult and took a few steps, that classic whooshing noise followed me, and it was straight “flashback” mode.  I can vividly remember wearing those Nike wind pants all the damn time that the sound became a part of me at one point. Just like anything, they made their way back and I’m here for them! *raises hands* My FAVORITE thing about a wind pant is that it can be dressed up or downumm what? Ummm yesss girl stick with me! It’s easy to find a dope top and build an outfit from there but for me personally, I feel like when it comes to “bottoms” it’s easy to go for something safe or basic and I refuse to let you reach for your old faithful’s so swap it out for something of a different fabric or pattern. I guess you can say from my new obsession that reaching for a wind pant is top of my list night now.

Snatched

I’ll keep it 100 and say that there’s no right way to pick a pair of wind pants, you can pick any color or style that speaks to your fashionista soul but I will say that for me, I need them to fit the WAY I LIKE THEM.. I like something with an adjustable waist band to give me the option to buy a larger size and maintain a figure by having the option to “snatch that waist” and flex those assets in a baggier style. Most people feel that the baggier a style the “bigger” you can look, and I beg to differ, in a solid color and PREFERABLY a darker color can definitely be figure flattering. The looser something looks around your waist (especially bunched due to tightening a waistband) the better. I know we’ve all seen a girl in baggy/loose snatched joggers and a tight crop top, and she looks effortless and dope. I think what truly sparks this “wind pant” need I currently have is that there are so many unique designs and details to these pieces that are making their way onto the fashion scene and it’s another splash of fuel to my already high flame.

Straight “ESP”

I was scrolling through ASOS and RE-DISCOVERED a brand that I was very familiar with and sadly forgot about it, “Crooked Tongues”. This brand was a staple in the streetwear community and I’m proud to represent them for the position they made for themselves in the game. I found quite a few pieces that I liked and decided on a high neck, cut sleeve, bodysuit with the classic “Crooked Tongues” logo placed in the center of the chest giving it a sleeker classy look. Believe me when I say that if I see something in a store or online, my arsenal of clothing comes flooding through and that’s when the magic happens.

I was rolling through a local boutique and saw a pair of wind pants hanging on a display, they caught my eye for the oddest reasonready for it?…. the neon pink accents placed throughout. If you don’t know this… I AM NOT A PINK GIRL! I don’t ever gravitates towards pink but something about these pants really had me shooketh… They had the perfect amount of pink that I was comfortable with, a simple pink bungee bottom and drawstring toggle waist band was the perfect amount of detail and the perfect touch. Picking them up, they were not only lightweight and soft but also lined and a more “oversized” feel. When something is lined like this, if given the opportunity, I prefer to try them on to make sure that they fit properly and don’t slide up in places they don’t belong (if you know what I mean). Slipping into these, I could just tell before they were even all the way on that they we’re going to be DOPE. They were fitted perfectly and when I saw my reflection in them, my “Crooked Tongues” bodysuit came to mind and I got that “YASSSS QWEEENN” moment... there was no question, they were coming home with me… real talk.

Oh You Fancy Huh?

In true MODISH CHAMPAGNE fashion, they were added in rotation and awaited their debut. Saturday is my day to get swagged out and glam. I love my weekend routine of taking my time doing my makeup and styling my fit. I had plans to be downtown at a graffiti fest with a chance of cocktails (there wasn’t a chance, it was a sure thing) and I was needing that versatile fit. My bulb went off and my boutique joggers and “Crooked Tongues” bodysuit came to mind. Once I paired them together for the first time, this fit was actually a step up from casual due to the more “sexiness” of the bodysuit. I of course paired them with a beanie *GnomGang* and my Comme des Garcons X Nike Shox (Shameless Plug starts now: Get all the deets over on KICKS&BITS on this dope collab that just SNATCHED the #1 spot on my shoe list) and was prepared to walk into anywhere I pleased in them OKKUURRRR… I do love the versatility of throwing on a pair of heels and swapping the beanie for some hair accessories and walking into my favorite lounge. Day to night looks in wind pants are really easy to style with simple additions and accessories, that’s hands down my favorite way to not be over done yet still be prepared for a change of scenery. You know your girl got you with some styling ideas in case you decide to hop onto this wind pant craze with me.

You can wear wind pants with a matching wind breaker jacket (co-ord set) and your favorite trainers, a crop tee, and high tops, or even a mesh top, Dr. Martens, and a beanie…. the possibilities are endless. If you’re really feeling saucy, throw on a bandeau and some strappy heels and steal the show in the classiest way.  What’s your “go-to” choice for bottoms? Are you down with the wind pant craze or is it a pass for you? Will you rock wind pants out for a night on the town or prefer to stay safe in club gear? Let me know beauties… I’m all ears.. the better to hear the swooshing of your wind pants coming my way. *wink*
