Hey Beauties! (am tired of every store smelling like Christmas cookies… *Grinch mode activated*) I can’t begin to tell you how long it took me to find the perfect pair of camouflage pants…Actually I will tell you… 2 years to be exact! I found a few that “tickled me fancy” BUT there was always something off about them or something that didn’t have me 100% sold. I always envisioned myself in a pair of oversized joggers, a cropped graphic tee, and some dope a** sneakers but sadly that fit was put off for far too long. Now as to what I was looking for is simple…I wanted a pattern that wasn’t… uhh… how do I put this ever so kindly?… cheap looking! Too harsh? I’ve seen several from different retailers and honestly some were a little too loud and the color scheme was way off, and others were too muted and didn’t really give off the “camo effect”. I kind of gave up on the hunt and it was almost as if the minute I stopped looking for them… they were put right in front of me like an ice cold can of Coke Zero *wink*.
SWERVE
I was in Nordstrom grabbing a quick gift and in true MODISH CHAMPAGNE fashion I had to hit Top Shop right? It’s a must! I must admit that I didn’t see these immediately but kind of wandered around the department and wasn’t really feeling anything. I was about to step off the carpet to make my way to a register when I caught a quick glimpse of the camo pattern from the corner of my eye. I was reluctant to turn around, but I got that flash of my “goals” outfit and was obligated to *sweeerrrvvvee* After sighing and giving in to the fashionista devil on my shoulder I walked over to the rack and was SO GLAD I DID!
I immediately was all about the color way and print of the camouflage (there are several different patterns out there in the fashion world) I noticed they were a jogger style with a toggle bottom to adjust how tight or loose you wanted it to hug your ankle yet had a button and a zipper like normal pair of pants. I’ll drop a good amount of coin without blinking an eye when it comes to things that I NEED… you know what kind of “NEED” I’m talking about *wink* I can’t lie and say I wasn’t a little shook at the $100.00 price tag but touching and holding them, the quality was superb and I just had to give them a try after striking out TOO many times in the past on my camo quest.
Of course the sweet girl helping me with a fitting room puts me in the dopest fitting room with the center step and all angle mirrors… I BETTER love these pants! Slipping them on I could instantly tell that the “bagginess” was on point.. and of course your gurl was about to fall for the $100 camo pants of her dreams. Once I slipped them on, money was no object and meant nothing at that point. They were PERFECT! They were a mid-rise fit and the ankle toggles held them up as I walked on and off the round podium in the fitting room. They sat perfectly and weren’t super tight at the waist or bum which I appreciated and kept the same stream line down the legs as well. They were the perfect fit! Alright… Alright… Top Shop take all my money! *sigh*
The reason I didn’t think twice about purchasing these babies is because the options are endless when it comes to styling. You can rock a crop top, sneakers or slides, and a dad hat for a casual look… a bodysuit, boots, and a beanie for a dope “out for shopping and drinks” look… or a mesh top, strappy heels, and statement earrings for a night out with the crew. These were the possibilities that made the sale for me and before you know, my card was swiped, and I finally owned my dream pair of camos.
Camo Takes L.A.
I was anxious to fit these in rotation and decided to style them for my birthday trip to L.A. I won’t sit here and tell you I “threw them in my suitcase” and this fit magically came to be… no no no…. I took the time to plan my trip, where I would 100% be going, and what fit I’d be wearing to go there. I knew I wanted a happy medium between dressed up and casual. I designated a day for shopping on Melrose and then out on West Hollywood for some nightlife. I morphed both events into one look and decided to go for a leather/one shoulder crop top (for some sass) and my yellow Off-White belt wrapped around as many times as possible for that snatch. My black metallic Air Force 1’s were a given… they’re always what I reach for when I know I’m going to do a ton of walking and need something sleek and comfortable.

I wanted the versality to be able to swap my sneaks for some strappy heels or sock boots and this combo was perfect. The camo, leather, and pop of yellow from my belt was a vibe! I felt the need to come correct if I was going to be strolling the streets of WEHO.
I discovered an amazing designer (Mona Thomas) on Instagram and purchased the dopest necklace I own to date and some even doper sunglasses. Check her site here. I can’t explain how these things happen but somehow in my fashionista mind…a flash of these accessories popped into my mind and “we have another winner” I rushed to where I had them kept and with the upmost confidence knew they were a perfect fit before I even got back in front of the mirror. BOOM.. “This was it chief!”. The masculine yet fitted bottom paired with the sexiness of the leather and a little shoulder showing was key. The accessories gave it that final touch and made it more of a statement as opposed to “I threw this together”. Off my bod and into my suitcase baby boo. The fit took the spotlight of my weekend and was probably my favorite pairing.
I did indeed take this straight into the evening but sadly HEELS were nowhere in sight *wink* I never felt under dressed and was perfectly comfortable all day. I seriously can’t wait to pull these babies out again for the winter with maybe a cropped sweater or turtleneck bodysuit to keep me looking fresh to death.
