LOOKIN’ FLY… EMIRATES?

LOOKIN’ FLY… EMIRATES?

Hey Beauties! (Clicking these keys like nobody’s business since your girl got that new set) I think at this point I don’t have to keep saying “I keep it 100 with you always” but I do, so let me be honest in saying that I tend to make styling a jersey too hard and need to stick to basics. I love going ALL out with my fits but every now and then I want something a little low key casual/undercover. You know when you’re in the mood to just be invisible or keep people guessing as to who the hell you think you are wearing a gold chain and an Real Madrid FC jersey.

Ya, that was my mood and speaking of moods, I sometimes go through these moods (take a shot every time I say the word “mood” we’re 5 deep already pssshhh!!) when I want to be comfy but don’t want to be in joggers or anything oversized. I always find that I gravitate towards denim shorts when this happens so I merged the two worlds together and out came with this fit. Thanks everyone..” I’ll be here all week” (drops mic) JK… you know I got the full scoop of “Halo Top” for you so don’t put that shot glass away just yet… *wink*

Modish World

I was headed out of town and was going to be “car bound” for a few hours. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to check into my hotel right away or what the situation would be upon arrival and your gurl doesn’t wait around. I was going to be prepared to hit pavement as soon as I arrived and made sure my outfit was MODISH approved. I was actually gifted a white Emirates jersey (exactly like this one) straight from Spain and LOVED it so much that I decided to purchase the navy color-way *you are now entering MODISH CHAMPAGNE’S brain where my bulb goes off and I decide to show you how to kill this look with leather pants, a ponytail, and this jersey in white… Exit to the left and enjoy a mini Coke Zero or Vodka Soda on your way out* The V-neck style of this jersey gave it a more “classy” vibe as opposed to a cut off basketball jersey that would be “Straight Streetwear” <big MOOD (take that shot). Vibing off the classiness of the jersey, I had 2 “road trip approved” options and that was either jeans or shorts. After contemplating for half a second, there was no way in heck I would sit in the car (for 3 hours) in jeans and then have to stay in them (in 100 degree weather) and try to enjoy myself.. shorts for the win..

Big Mood

The 2 key pieces of my fit were set so now it was a matter of A.) What shorts and B.) “Kicks&Bits” (shoes&accessories) <big MOOD (SHOT). For those that don’t know… you’re 2 “big mood” bonus shots were brought to you by this blog eeeyyyyy-oooooo. Now was a good time as any to bust out my classic black Balenciaga hat for that “not trying too hard” look and pairing black shorts would have been too easy and “matchy matchy” so I went for dark wash denim and played up the hat with black Adidas socks and my black Vantas. We’ll be diggin’ deeper into the brand mixing topic in future gossip but for now, just know I went straight Adidas.

It’s a Staple Sis

When I was choosing the actual denim, I decided to go for something with minimal distressing to just keep everything sleek and chic. Staring at myself in the mirror all done up, I felt like my fit was missing a “feminine” touch and usually jewelry will do the trick in a situation like that. I personally reached for a chunky gold necklace and it was perfect. I encourage you to find a staple necklace like this one (which is from ZARA and already sold out of course) but they are EVERYWHERE. I got you beauties with some options below but they are truly that “life saver” when it comes to adding a that extra “BIT” to a more “masculine” fit or even adding some flair to a more simple fit. Either way, they are a staple and you need one. I’m not much of an “earrings” person so my “staple” piece is always a necklace of some sort.

Tuck and Roll.. as in Let’s Roll

I stress this in the most loving and positive way possible…. Ready?? Do something with your shirt tail, if you’re taking the time to style your fit and care about brand mixing, the perfect short, and a statement piece to add that sass… then queen don’t let that shirt hang there. I play the mood (do I even have to say it?! ShOt) if the look is more classic and pulled together, I go for a more “purposeful tuck” where it looks like I meant to tuck in the shirt to show off my figure or showcase the high waisted shorts I was wearing in this case. If the look is more street or casual, I go for a “mini front tuck” right at the button; works wonders. It will show you actually have a waist and can keep a fit from looking sloppy.

AGAIN, it depends on the fit but the only way you’ll know what works is if you play around with it. You have a little more freedom with jeans and can decide if you want to let the shirt hang a bit more freely but play around when you pair it with shorts and see what you think.

Have you ever styled a jersey before? What do you think of them? Do you like something more fitted like a women’s jersey? or do you just stay away and leave it to the athletes? I always feel like “Olive Oil” (Popeye’s Bae) <not Popeye’s chicken.. in a basketball jersey since I have this weird “my arms are too skinny” complex. Ok, were getting too deep.. must be the shots talking *wink*
