ON WEDNESDAY’S WE WEAR…

Hey Beauties! (has no shame in admitting this fit will make another appearance STAT) We all know the obsession with joggers is REAL in the CHAMPAGNE CLUB, being able to dress up a pair of joggers (the right way) is another story. Have NO fear.. MODISH CHAMPAGNE is here to give you all the intel. Finding joggers for a specific look is the most important part of a well-balanced outfit. Side Note: I always struggle with being humble and saying “in my opinion” but eff that.. I know what I’m talking about so trust ya gurl. There is a such thing as a “dressed up” jogger and a “casual” jogger but the beauty of both, is you can go either way with whatever lane you want to take. Me personally, I was in the mood for a “sexier” vibe.

I was scoping out ASOS online (which I do quite frequently… *nervous laugh*) and have a habit of ALWAYS scanning the New Arrivals of the “ASOS Design” collection. If you haven’t seen this “department”, I encourage you to do so. They have a perfect mix of items in general, everything from clothing, shoes, and jewelry. I know getting on such an overwhelming website with 500 pages of whatever item you are looking for is time consuming and annoying so I cut those results in half by FIRST searching the brands or lines I know I love and that’s how I discovered these bomb a** joggers.

Is My A** Glowing?!

You know when you’re scrolling thru Netflix and don’t really need to see the title of a movie, you just scroll at rapid speed waiting for a cover to POP at you?! Ya, that’s me on ASOS! These joggers stopped me the same way the sound of a Don Julio bottle being un-corked does.. (“save me some”-George Lopez voice) I couldn’t click fast enough and of course I was immediately sold! The subtle neon graphics on the leg and reflective writing on the hiney was…. uuuuffffff…..FUEGO… I had to have them. Everything was working out perfect, they had my size in stock, the price point was do-able, and I was obsessed with them so what more do I need right? It wasn’t until I got to the checkout screen that I realized they were “petite”… bummer. I can keep it real in saying that I’ve always felt tall at 5’5, it may be that ALL of my girlfriends are the definition of petite and I’m usually towering over them. Never in a million years would I have ever consulted a petite size chart but when you’re riding for something so hard, you do things you never thought you’d do.

Petite?! From Where?

I consulted the only person that I knew would have the answer for me.. GOOGLE and to my surprise there were a few different definitions of “petite”. Some articles said 5’3 and under and others said 5’5 and under. I engulfed way too deep into this topic so I regrouped and decided 2 things.. 1.) I don’t like joggers to hit my ankle anyway and always prop them up a bit. 2.) What’s the worst that can happen? They are a little too short? No worries, we’ll rock them with a high top or a combat boot and no one will know. WE GOT THIS.. (Insert clapping emoji between each word) Living that YOLO life I hit “submit payment” and now we’re playing the waiting game which is a game I have no patience for. I’m not the only one that gets text alerts when they have a package delivered right?… *crickets* Well I got my text and couldn’t wait to get my package and see if I was considered “petite” for once in my life. Shout out to all my tall girls by the way…Own that ish.. you tall glass of water *wink*

Gurl… Where’s The Flood?!

Opening the signature ASOS bag and pulling them out of the bag, I was already pleased. They were great quality and had some weight to them. The graphics were even MORE vivid in person and the reflective writing on the rear was of quality as well, not cheap looking at all. I went up a size (size: 8 is shown here and I’m normally a 6) just because I knew I wanted something a little more oversized AND I was still unsure about the whole “petite” thing. Holding them up I felt they looked a little big in the waist but couldn’t change into them fast enough. The inside was super soft and cozy (these will be perfect in winter) and once my foot slid in and they were up, I low key closed one eye and peeked down to see how short they were. There is no way to express how delighted I was to look down and see that they were perfect. By that I mean they sat where I would normally pull my jogger up anyway and now, I didn’t have to worry about them sliding down or budging. They were EVERYTHING I could want in a jogger. The waist was a bit loose, but thanks to the drawstrings I was able to pull them for dear life and snatch that waist. The best part was they didn’t get that weird bunching some joggers get when you utilize the drawstrings where it looks like you have either a camel toe or a bulge (sips tea).

My creative juices were flowing, and I was ready to style these bad boys up. Pairing an oversized tee or plain bodysuit with these joggers would NEVER and I mean NEVER do them justice so we’re going for a little more oomph. Scanning my closet, I knew I wanted to avoid any bulk at the waist and show off what these joggers were doing for my figure, so I wanted a crop but again nothing plain. I used the reflective writing on the back as inspo and remembered I had a cut-out crop top I purchased at Forever 21 (tagged below) for no other reason than I thought it was dope, it was black, and it was $12.99. I knew I’d utilize it in some way and the time was now. Throwing that on was like an “I knew it” moment and there was no stopping me from there. I threw on this gold link necklace from ZARA (sold out...annoying, but dupe listed) to “dress it up” since a chunky necklace can always do that for any look. Looking at myself in the mirror I felt the crop was a little too “sexy” for my liking, so I wanted some sort of crop jacket to again, let the joggers keep their place as the star of the show. I didn’t want to go for anything too bulky or heavy, so I reached for this cropped ZARA “windbreaker” jacket (linked below) and it was the perfect touch. I purposely would let the jacket fall off my shoulder a bit to still allow a peek at my cutouts and shoulders. What’s an “EXTRA” fit without my Off-White high tops *shrug*

This look was slayed if I do say so myself! There IS such a thing as feeling sexy in joggers and “dressing” them up, it’s just about balance and the classy touches. You could easily pair this with a tube top, statement earrings and some strappy heels for evening or a crop sweater and some socks and slides for a straight cozy fit. Joggers are a staple in my collection, and they aren’t going ANYWHERE! Who’s with me?!
