DUAL THREAT

DUAL THREAT

Hey Beauties! (Consistently checking the status of my StockX order.. grrr..) I’m just here to spread my knowledge on the ever so popular Yeezy Boost 350 V2, which happens to be my favorite sneaker as of now and give you all the deets on my first Off-White purchase. Now I know not everyone is on board with the Yeezy trend but hear me out. Growing up on Kanye West I always admired his come up and work ethic. The guy didn’t care what he said or who liked him, his music reflected that, and I was down with it. I do know that with a free speaker comes topics and views that not everyone agrees with, myself included but that doesn’t take away from him as an artist and designer. Being an entrepreneur myself, I respect that honesty and strive to speak my mind and stay true to my beliefs as well.

OK.. Enough Yappin’

Now down to business, the Yeezy Boost V2 is the shoe I’m sure everyone has seen and is familiar with. For the more sneaker enthused, they know there were several different releases before this even with different brands that Kanye did and are now going for thousands of dollars aftermarket but to keep it simple, lets stick to what’s available now and what we can get our hands on without using rent money to pay for it *wink*. The brand has been known lately to re-release previous sneakers that were near impossible to get your hands on. I had my eyes on the zebra V2 for so long but couldn’t bring myself to pay the 3-time markup other websites were asking for.

You Don’t Want To Miss This..

I follow Yeezy Mafia on Instagram for all the updated Yeezy news and to my surprise, I read they were doing a re-stock of the zebra color way and I did everything I didn’t want to do before to get my hands on them. I heard horror stories about having to be up at 6AM and wait online with 3 different computers and a cellphone to even possibly get onto the website (scratches head). This was far from the truth but don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t easy. There are a few things you can do. Sign up for alerts on Yeezysupply.com, Adidas.com/yeezy, or retailers like Finish Line / Footaction and you’ll get emails when it’s time to buy. Usually for central time zones releases are 9am-10am. There are several Instagram accounts that have release dates and you can have an idea when the email options will be available (I’ve seen up to 2 weeks before a shoe launches you can sign up). Again, you’re relying on the internet so may the GOOGLE Chrome Gods be with you! (no joke, I’ve heard Chrome is best when trying to get through to the sites).

Took an “L”..Girl Bounced Back

Now on to my favorite option and where I’ve had the best luck, that’s going through the Finish Line App using their raffle feature. You download the app, click on the shoe, size, and Finish Line store you use, and a few days before the launch you’ll get an alert if you’re a “raffle winner”. If you are indeed a winner, you take your ticket to the counter to pay and get your shoes right there in store. You have until 3 pm and all the unspoken for shoes are up for “first come first serve” type grabs in a separate line. Since I was a noob, I wasn’t successful getting my Zebras online but I did hear that because there were SO many units released, the aftermarket prices were dropping rapidly. I hopped on to Solestage.com where I’ve made reliable purchases before and saw my size (or what I thought was my size) available for $280.00. The retail price for these shoes are $220.00 so at this point after all the hassle I went through, I wasn’t passing on them and didn’t mind paying an extra $60-$70 with shipping for these bad boys. I did go to Finish Line right at 3pm where to my surprise there were 4 people in line and was able to get my hands on a 9.5 (as a gift for someone) so that is a reliable option. Beware of the accessory racks by the registers *sigh* these fishnet adidas socks were staring straight at me…. so of course, I threw em’ in the bag.. *shrug*

One important thing to note is that *Yeezy SNEAKERS are MEN’S SIZING* I recommend using a sizing chart or rule of thumb, you should size down 1.5 between men and women’ shoe sizes. Me being a 7.5 in women’s means I’d be a 6.5 in Men’s. I took the advice of someone that owned a pair and happens to be the exact same size as me and ordered a 7. It was a lot roomier than I’d like but not un-wearable*future me has purchased all my Yeezy’s in 6.5 and they are a perfect fit*. This shoe hands down is the comfiest sneaker I’ve ever owned; this includes my casual and athletic sneakers. Looking down at my feet for the first time they seemed a little bulky and big but looking in the mirror they were perfect. It took me a bit to get used to the aerial view I guess..hahaha.. It’s like that saying “you can’t just have one potato chip” or in my case Hot Cheeto..

I was ready for my second pair and was coming correct this time. With my Finish Line App downloaded I signed up and a few days before the release for the Boost 350 v2 Static’s. 2 days later I got the “WINNER” alert.. YAYUUUHHH…On release day, I popped over to Finish Line and had my shoes as fast as they swiped my credit card. These had the exact same comfort level as my Zebra’s and looked a lot better in my eyes since they were my size.  The best part about these are the reflective laces. Below is my ticket from this order. *woop*

If you can get your hands on a pair of these at a reasonable price, snag them up! FYI: The Yeezy Static’s come in Reflective and Non-Reflective. I purchased the Non-Reflective (only the shoe laces reflect) the other version reflects fully. Here is a link to the ones I own, Non-Reflective. Hint: Select your size on the top left corner of the page for correct pricing.

Dangerously Addicted

Off from the shoes and on to bags… I have been dying to talk about this bag and have literally worn it to death already. The first time I saw the words Off-White was on Instagram somewhere and It immediately caught my attention. I recognized Virgil Abloh from the photo I saw for not only his work with Pyrex but I knew he was a colleague of Kanye West. They both interned at Fendi in Chicago and I was stoked to see his work.

I stumbled across the handbags and it was GAME OVER.. the design, and creativity was just so sick! There was no other brand that had my attention this way. I’ve had my fair share of designer bags, but they were all “safe” and “Cliché”. Off-White bags were different and made a statement, I was ready to splurge and researched several different websites. I’ve learned that Saks Fifth Avenue has a points/discount program and decided to go with them for my purchase. I’ve had great experience with Barneys (I have a plug in Las Vegas) as well so try both!

It’s The Little Things Duh..

I decided to go for a smaller every day crossbody for my first one. It came in the mail and was everything I’d hoped for. The signature clear “PLASTIC BAG” dust bag was a texture I’d never felt before and its quality set the tone on the entire unboxing experience. Holding my bag for the first time I was more than pleased with my purchase. The bag had the signature striped detail and pewter binder clip and showcased the star of the show.. the yellow (tape measure) branded shoulder strap. EDIT:This bag is currently sold out but thankfully the brand has now launched interchangeable straps and I was able to find the new logo design in yellow for you queens.. here! Since I went for a mini version there was one larger slot inside and a slimmer zipper pouch. I have found that the inside (large slot) holds a slim card holder, IPhone X, liquid lipstick, lip gloss, and eye lash glue (the essentials) perfectly. I can slip a passport perfectly into the slim pocket if that gives you a better space reference. The bag fastens magnetically and is definitely a show stopper. I have been stopped on numerous occasions and asked “what kind of bag is that?” or “where did you get that bag?” a lot of the earlier compliments I received were from others just admiring the design and now that Off-White is known amongst EVERYONE, I get the “ok she knows what Off-White is!” compliments.

I highly recommend a hand bag that suits you and encourage you to think outside of the saturation of designers and get whatever truly catches your eye, something that speaks to you and just truly peaks your fashion interests. In other words, If you don’t want compliments don’t get an Off-White bag. *wink*
