VIBIN’ & THRIVIN’

VIBIN’ & THRIVIN’

Hey Beauties! (contemplating going to the grocery store or not.. ugh) So here’s the thing, I have come to find as I have dabbled in several fashion trends and styles, that a pair of joggers and sneakers is “HOME” for me. Growing up it was always tight jeans, spaghetti straps, flip flops, and as many accessories as you could layer. I did it all and went with the “fashion flow” for a LONG time. As time went on and I finally was able to see that fashion was going somewhere I didn’t want to go, I made that change and wore what I wanted and styled things the way I wanted to! (If only I could capitalize “I” 100 times).  As anyone else would ask..“Why did I wait so long!” and I truly asked myself that every day!

Gurl..Times Have Changed

It’s hard to believe now but wearing a pair of joggers or a men’s tee out in public was unheard of if you were trying to prove you knew what was on trend. I remember the first time I wore a pair of Men’s Adidas joggers (there weren’t LOOSE fitting joggers for women at the time) to the movie theatre with a pair of ORIGINAL Yeezy Boost 350 in Pirate Black, most sneaker heads know this was about 2016 and I was stopped twice and complimented on my fit. Once by a group of teenage boys who straight up said “Mrs. I like your Yeezy’s” <- I tell myself they realized what a grown a** women I was by assuming I was old enough to be a “Mrs.” What happened to “Miss”? anywho..! Another was a girl around my age as I was going to the restroom and I could tell she truly meant it and was studying my look. Not to sound too braggy (you’ll learn as you get to know me better that I am FAR from that) but I usually always would get some type of compliment on my outfit, or styling choice, but this compliment meant more. It showed me that I truly was in my element in what I was wearing and 100% comfortable in my own skin. I was on a rampage and was ready to take on what is now considered Streetwear (or maybe it always was??)

Leather > Everything Else

When I laid my eyes on these leather joggers from Forever 21, in the women’s department, I was legit ecstatic and knew I was on to something all along. I have two MODISH approved options worth checking out from Nasty Gal and Pretty Little Thing. I have always been a sneaker head since elementary school and know the sneaker hype was to thank for this new turn in women’s fashion. Girls wanted to wear more than peplum tops, midi dresses, and wedges. We wanted t-shirt dresses, leather leggings, and Air Max. Needless to say, the joggers came home with me and I’ve had them for longer than I care to admit. You can never go wrong with a hoodie pairing and I went for a cropped version also from Forever21 to give my body some shape. This brings up a perfect topic and great place to change my rambling into actual knowledge. If you have a dope pair of shoes and some bomb accessories, it doesn’t matter how much your outfit costs or where you got it from. Save your pennies for the pieces that will take your fit to “LEGIT”. I purchased both pieces at forever 21 and together they probably totaled under $50.

The Extra Dash

The accessories are what really makes this fit. I want to keep things 100 in saying that you DON’T always need designer things to feel your outfit is worthy. I know what I like and have always been into sneakers but indeed have my limits. Yeezy’s are not only art in my eyes but the 350’s are the most comfortable shoe I’ve ever owned. I know they aren’t the easiest to purchase retail, but it doesn’t hurt to try right? I’ve been lucky quite a few times. As far as my Off-White obsession, that one is a little more of a splurge, but I see it like this, anyone can save for a Louis Vuitton bag and feel good about themselves. Everyone knows what the brand is, and it gives them a sense of confidence, but I go more for the brands that have a creative twist to everything they do, one quality that stands out from the rest.

True art on your body is so gratifying in my mind. Do and wear what you want and like and when everyone is wearing white and you hate white, listen to that little MODISH angel on your shoulder and go for black. If you are in a store and see a bomb a** bag that’s a little pricey but you can’t stop thinking about it, listen to that little MODISH devil and charge it to the game!

Cheers,
