Hey Beauties! (can’t explain my obsession with Halloween *shrug*) There are times when you want to rock a sexier look but still come thru in something sporty and chic. You know like a mix between “Sporty” and “Posh Spice”? If there isn’t such a thing, then there is now okkkkk! I love to mix styles and combine 2 fashion worlds. I don’t always have looks in mind, but it does start with a piece and I work my way from there. I was rolling through Finish Line and my eyes landed on these Nike wind pants with leather paneling. So, you beauties know that I didn’t need a reason to snatch these babies up.. leather on wind pants? Like what is life? There really isn’t anything much more to elaborate on these. You know when you see something you just must have? This was that moment for me and that’s that *shrug* I am so down for dressing up an article of clothing that is meant to be athletic or risky. One doesn’t pick up a pair of joggers at an “athletic store” and think “I can’t wait to hit the scene in these!” There are a few of us however that see things a bit differently and (cough cough) I’m one of them.
Where’s My Inhaler?
The possibilities for styling wind pants are endless, you can indeed wear them to serve their purpose in a more athletic vibe, with heels and a crop top or denim jacket for drinks with the girls or even to bar hop, or just for a dope a** street wear vibe with your favorite pair of trainers and a graphic tee. We’re going to touch on this in the future but, what’s your take on brand mixing? I personally prefer to keep brands within their own families, but to each their own. Like you won’t catch your girl wearing Nike wind pants and Adidas sneakers but I’m all for Nike wind pants and Off-White sneakers… a collab was made… we’re ok… you can breathe MODISH… but real talk, it’s just preference. You know when you have a new pair of shoes and you literally live, breathe, and shop for nothing but those shoes. Well if you guessed that I am still fully committed to my Comme Des Garcons X Nike Shox, then here’s what you won (a fist bump and an okkuurr!) I can’t pick up one item of clothing and not think “would this go with my Comme’s?” I’m trying …bear with me! Well, I had no self control in this instance (obvi) and snatched these up solely because they were Nike and black with leather accents.
Where We Headed?
My wheels started turning when I spotted the leather on these and realized that I had the option at this point to make them more of an evening piece. I can’t explain it, this is just how my brain works *shrug* Anytime you see a sporty piece that you can dress up, take that chance and allow it into your arsenal of night-time outfits. I promise you won’t regret it. Swinging my Finish Line bag all the way to my closet, I was proud to hang these babies up and wait for the perfect opportunity to throw these babies on and werk. The weeks are long and boring, but the weekend is short and lit so we must make the best of them and come correct. I guess you can say I wait all week for the weekend and that includes getting “first day of school” excited and plan my fits. Of course, I just had to wear my new Nike wind pants okkkuurr! Now finding the perfect top could go several ways. Start with the basics, “where are you going?” “What’s the vibe?” “If there’s a sudden change of plans, am I able to still rock this fit to the MAX?” you know, all the usual questions! I knew my weekend was going to call for a trip downtown for dinner, drinks, and bar hopping. If you aren’t a huge fan of heels or wedges, don’t let that stop you from wearing sneakers out and about, there’s a right way to rock them and we dress for OURSELVES, no one else.
Bang For Your Buck Sis
Speaking of sneakers…. haha (any excuse to talk about my beloved Shox) These shoes are a statement in themselves and you can get all the scoop over on Kicks&Bits but just know that the branded chains really make a statement and dress up EVERYTHING. Shoes (check), wind pants (check), now let’s talk tops. I knew I wanted something with some SASS and a DASH of sexy, but I wanted to keep it more on the simple side. I decided to wear one of the chains from my shoes as a necklace (thanking the fashion Gods for allowing it to fit me perfectly for dual use) and a simpler top would not only let the necklace have its shine but the wind pants as well. Since the pants were high waisted and had a white drawstring toggle, I decided a crop top would be perfect to showcase them (minor details are truly important). I played up the leather accents in the pants and went straight for my leather crops. Since I was heading OUT OUT I decided on a one shoulder fitted crop top from PrettyLittleThing. A bodysuit would have been dope or even a tied-up mesh tee but that would have been expected of me, so I went for something with a little more “edge”. I felt too girly once I was styled up and that’s a job for my beanie, it’s literally my signature piece so once I slipped it on, MODISH CHAMPAGNE was in the building! You can style a sporty piece more than one way and you know your gurl got you with those options.
Your Gurl Was OFF
You know I keep it 100 with you always and I wasn’t down with wearing my sneaker without the chain on it, it didn’t feel right and I felt off. The next time I decide to wear one of the chains as a necklace, I’ll more than likely be wearing different shoes. Take it or leave it situation I guess but nonetheless, I could have easily stripped the beanie and thrown on strappy heels or stacked boots and rocked it at the discotheque. Your gurl still ended up out in club but I stayed rocking my sneakers and didn’t think twice. I do indeed keep heels close by me at all times in case I need them but don’t reach for them as much as I mention them. (haha)
