IT’S ALL IN THE DEETS

IT’S ALL IN THE DEETS

Hey Beauties! (forgot how hilariously cheesy “A Night at the Roxbury” is) There’s nothing like putting together the perfect fit and looking your best, you’re excited and can’t wait to flex your fit but you feel it’s missing a little somethin’ somethin’. ACCESSORIESACCESSORIESACCESSORIES are key. Belts, jewelry, sunglasses, the options are endless. I usually prefer more statement pieces to get the job done and be as EXTRA as possible. A chunky necklace, earrings, or even some arm candy is the way to go. It’s amazing what adding a little shine to a fit can do. I’ve had my days when the fit is perfect, but it needs a more feminine touch or is lacking a little luster and BOOM… I add a chunky necklace and we’re back in business. A necklace of some sort seems to always be my “go-to” addition.

2 IN 1

Nothing re-sparks your luv for statement pieces than coming across one that takes your breath awayliterally”. The discovery of my newest obsession comes in rare form and was a surprise to myself. I was utterly obsessed with a pair of shoes that showcased a detachable chain (which I later learned). The Comme Des Garcons X Nike Shox collab. These re-worked Nike Shox have a detachable branded gold chain which I was more than excited actually fit my neck just right and was immediately obsessed. The chain featured the classic branded logo on a large pyramid style design. I’ve heard stories of these shoes being purchased just for the chains or offers being made to those who were able to get their hands on them to purchase the chains from them. I can honestly see why though, the fact that it was large and legible was EVERTHING I needed. Although this necklace wasn’t an easy piece to come by (click here for a ride on the struggle bus with me) I have seen and own several that are equally perfect and am now fully addicted to buying these “finishing touches”. I decided that I prefer to wear my Comme des Garcons necklace when I’m not wearing the shoes as a pair since it feels odd having one shoe “chainless”.

Belts As Necklaces?! Wait.. What?

I tend to reach more for gold but am not opposed to some dazzling silver pieces. I was heading out for some drinks and lounge hopping downtown and my fit called for something a little extra after everything was all put together. I decided to go for a black one shoulder leather crop top and black Nike wind pants with leather paneling and it was perfectly paired together. Come get full outfit vibes over on “Straight Streetwear” I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and realized there was a little something missing. There is no wrong way to wear an all-black fit but there are a few things we can do to spice them up a bit and break up a solid color palette. You know your gurl gots you with some necklace alternatives.

I have been known to take a chain belt as of recently and wrap it around my neck as well to create more of a choker drop necklace. Open up your creativity to other options and don’t be afraid to let your design juices flow and don’t keep yourself limited. The necklace set my outfit up 10 notches and it really added that zing I was needing. I got several compliments on this necklace and was happy it fit me more as a choker to still allow the top to showcase its one shoulder detail. Whether a necklace is more of a drop style, I prefer one that can be wrapped myself or one that has a choker feature with a drop chain.

Something sitting up higher I feel draws more attention to the face but also doesn’t cover any part of your outfit. I live for the idea of a button up and allowing a drop chain to fall under the top as opposed to over to allow the eyes to wander. It’s a simple and sexy touch.

Earrings For the Win?

If you decide that maybe necklaces aren’t the way you want to spruce up a fit but prefer earrings, this is another easy way to take your outfit to the next level. Earrings can be so creative and really add a punch. Whether you have a curated ear and want to load up on detailed earrings or dive straight in for larger statement earrings, you can’t go wrong. I prefer to go sans necklace if I am wearing a larger earring option to just keep a point of focus. If the outfit calls for both earrings and a necklace then so be it, layer all your pieces boo and let’s get it.

What’s your favorite way to dress up an outfit? Do you prefer chunky necklaces or statement earrings? Will you get creative and experiment with belts as necklaces or did I go too far with that one? Fill your gurl in!
