EASY AS 1..2..3…

EASY AS 1..2..3…

Hey Beauties! (am no longer shook when I finish a season in 2 days.. YOU season 2 was the bomb diggity!) There’s just something easy and comforting about cycle shorts and an oversized tee. I know it’s no secret that we are a fan of that combo here in the CHAMPAGNE Club but, it is what it is *shrug* You can never go wrong busting out a good oversized tee and just rocking a dope street look. I’m pretty easy when it comes to stepping out during the day for some errands and shopping or a quick lunch and drinks with a girlfriend. I guess you can say that my cycle shorts and tee are like others yoga pants and slides… comfortable and my “go-to”. When it comes to an oversized tee, I legit just buy what I like, I’m not biased as to brands or where I purchase them as long as they fit how I like and feature a dope graphic or pattern. I have my favorite shops for oversized tees but get picky with fit, I like a more 90’s oversized fit with a drop sleeve. I feel a drop sleeve truly adds that baggy factor and therefore gives off the slouchy look you are going for. It’s not always easy to determine fit when you shop online and trust me when I say, I’ve had my duds and had to swap sizes more than once on one item. *shame*

Fit Is Key

Now, for my queens that are just dabbling in the oversized tee gang, you have to decide just how “baggy” you want to go. Whether you decide you want to wear a men’s tee and not have to go too many sizes up, or stick to a women’s tee and grab the largest size possible. Everyone has their preference. There are 2 sides of the line that I ride, If I go for a men’s tee, I usually stick to a Large but if it’s already described as an “oversized” or “boxy fit” then I roll with a Medium. I utilize size charts and read all the descriptions and reviews (if any) extremely thoroughly when it comes to my tees. USUALLY…any info you’re looking for, can be found in the description and help a GREAT deal. I make my decision to the best of my ability and have been known to be wrong and have to send an item back not once… but twice since I was off on sizing. It’s hit or miss, but worth the trouble. As your collection starts to grow, you’ll find a pattern in the size you gravitate towards and learn what to look for when determining your size. If I decide to roll “in store” I always utilize the opportunity to hop into a fitting room and try my tees on.

Who Run The World?!…

Ladies, if you haven’t learned anything from me thus far… take this from me and lock it up in the fashion arsenal that takes up probably 80% of our brains (no, just me?) The men’s department is where it’s at when you want a dope graphic/branded tee. Not only when it comes to fit but also style and design. As I sit here and type those words out, there’s one store that comes to mind that holds this fact to be true and that’s Urban Outfitters… I’ve found some of my favorite tees to this day up those two flights of stairs to the men’s department of my local Urban Outfitters. Don’t get it twisted though, the women’s department comes in clutch too I just have my preference. There are quite a few online shops I frequent and you know your girl got you with some options.

Black>Everything Else

I am genuinely embarrassed at the amount of black tees in my wardrobe but listen, I buy what I know I’m going to wear and trust me when I say that I wear ALL my tees and style them different ways and more than once. I just happen to always (surprise… surprise…) reach for black. I was scrolling through ASOS when I discovered a brand that I was quite familiar with and sadly forgot about, Crooked Tongues… get my full experience here I was shook to see the name across my computer screen but also stoked since they are such a classic brand for me. I decided on a few pieces and you know I JUST had to try out an oversized tee (it’s a must) the price point was more than fair and I was stoked to dive in to a new (not so new) brand. I think by this point you all know I live in Texas! If you don’t know, now you do *wink* We have non existent winters and usually can get away with wearing shorts year round… (slightly dramatic but not by much) If there happens to be a chill in the air where shorts aren’t permitted, I still rock my tees and throw on my layers! I went for a black, white, and pink tee with a “pop art” design, something about the graphic print had me fixated and I needed it. I always go for things that have me saying “yesss that’s dope” It hasn’t steered me wrong yet so…. I stick by that gut feeling.

“You’ve Got Mail”

Getting the tee in, I was excited to get it in my hands for that first feel of the quality. I’ve owned pieces from the brand before but went into it blindly to ensure that I gave it fair judgement, just as I remembered, BOMB! The graphics on the tee were opaque and vivid, the material was soft and breathable. I could tell just by holding it up that the fit was going to be perfect. *sigh of relief* I didn’t immediately slide into it like I normally do, I guess since I was visually pleased and have owned pieces in the past, I hung it up and was ready to add it to the rotation. A week or so went by, and I decided to hit up “The Galleria” in Houston Texas since I was on the hunt for a very specific shoe and knew this was the place to find them. I immediately reached for my new Crooked Tongues tee since I knew it was not only DOPE, but was comfortable and the perfect piece to shop freely and still look put together and trendy. Back to the 90 degree “winter” weather, I knew I would roll with cycle shorts again for comfort but the abstract print on the tee was making me want to bust out my Off-White striped high tops and tie the look together. I opted for a pair of tube socks and a dad hat to keep the casual “running errands” vibe but you could easily pair a long sleeve turtle neck, boyfriend jeans, and sneakers for a chill winter vibe or even a pair of leather pants, a puffer coat and combat boots for a notch up the casual dial but still weather appropriate.

Gimme Gimme More…

I blame the fact that I was so comfy on how much money I spent, so… we’ll leave it at that *wink* I couldn’t wait any longer to cop myself a few more pieces from the brand and hopped back on ASOS immediately. (Side note: Follow me on Instagram where I show a sneak peek into my deliveries and random pickups) The best part about oversized tees is they will never go “out of style” and you can dress them up or down. You can always rely on a tee to express yourself and show a little more creativity and style. It’s easy to throw on a tee as a base layer and let everything else dress it up or make a dope graphic your main focus and let it do all the talking for you. Don’t be afraid to hit the Men’s department for some cool finds and don’t shy away from buying 2-3 sizes larger than your normal size for the ultimate “oversized” look. I can tell you that it took me WAY too long to get myself to purchase clothes 2 sizes larger than my own. Something mentally had me blocked and seemed strange to buy clothes that not only wasn’t my size but was literally swimming on me. I got over that as soon as I wore my first fit and realized how dope and effortless the outfit was and how I looked in it. I reach for an oversized tee and over the knee boots when I hit the town at night, oversized tee and leggings for dinner and drinks and even an oversized tee and cycle shorts for shopping and running errands. Get you an oversized tee sis… you WON’T be disappointed.

So what’s the vibe queens? Are we going to step up our tee game and come correct? Will you scope out the men’s department and expand your collection? Will you stick to your size or play with over sizing? Fill your Gurl in!

Cheers!
