HOLY GRAIL?!

HOLY GRAIL?!

Hey Beauties! (am officially flu free and living my best life…eoooowww!) It’s no secret that joggers have come to swoop the fashion scene and I’m here for it! I’ve found myself living and breathing in some form of sweatpants and they have quickly become a staple in my wardrobe. Jeans are always a go-to and will take your fit anywhere it needs to be, whether that be dressed up or down. Sweatpants on the other hand are usually worn in a more casual fashion and can make any streetwear look that much more legit. Don’t get it twisted though, I’ve seen queens come correct in sweats and heels and roll through the club correct… Mini dress? Never heard of her! There’s one thing I look for in a pair of sweats and it’s quite simple, FIT…Fit is key and makes all the difference in the world when it comes to them making it out to see the light of day or taking their place in the pajama drawer. They must have the right amount of bagginess and do all the right things around the waist area, hit at the right part of the ankle and keep their shape If you decide to rock them with a little hike up to them.

I’ve owned sweats that do all the wrong things for my shape, so trust me when I say, I know a good pair of sweats when I see one. Most people think that a thick waist band will snatch you in and give you that Kylie Jenner waistline but in my experience, it adds more bulk and doesn’t flatter anything below the belly button. If you snatch a high waist you must remember that the excess bulk has to go somewhere and that’s usually below the waistline and creates a non-existent pouch and TRUST“aint nobody got time for that!”

Putting In Work

Playing with fit isn’t for everybody and who actually has the time to run a process of elimination scheme of sweatpants on the market? *shamefully raises hand* I did all the research for you queens and decided to check out a few options that are attainable for anyone. I can easily go cop a pair of $800.00 Off White sweatpants and I’m sure they’ll be EVERYTHING and then some come back and talk about how obsessed I am with them and this helps NO ONE since it’s just not practical. I hit the fast fashion world and decided to find a pair of sweats that were attainable for everyone. Pretty Little Thing… the mecca of fast fashion and the site that never ceases to amaze me when it comes to their sales and merchandise.

I can always find something I like on their site and find it so hard not to want more than one thing. I am USUALLY quite pleased with their products but have ordered a few things I haven’t been pleased with quality wise. Nonetheless, the misses were far and few in between and at their price point, I was willing to take the risk. PLT was my first choice since I heard a few of the queens I follow on You Tube and Instagram rave about their “Casual Jogger” purchase from the site. Enough was enough, I was ready to experience them for myself and place my order. Update: I’ve expanded my jogger collection and found a few more I am OBSESSED with and highly recommend.

Alternatives:

TopShop|Asos|Lululemon

Sis… You Shedding?!

I decided to go for two different colors since I was already making the commitment. Price per pair was $35.00 but I was able to cop them at 50% off. (PLT always has some form of promo code so always peep the website) When it came to sizing, I was a little lost, my usual size is always a small and PLT is awesome when It comes to offering model description so armed with all these things, I went for a Medium for a bit of an “oversized” look. PLT does offer expedited shipping options but I went for standard shipping as I wasn’t needing them for anything anytime soon. I found myself regretting this decision almost immediately as the days went by. After what felt like a week (dramatics) my joggers had arrived and I was ready to put them to the wear test. (Side Note: Does PLT not have the most epic packaging? Who can resist pink unicorns?) The parcel package was burning a hole in my hand and I couldn’t wait to cut it open. Pulling them out of the packaging, I could tell they had some weight to them and were extremely soft.

I was already pleased with my choice, but the true test comes once they are on the bod. Putting them on, I could feel the fleece on the inside and knew these would definitely keep me warm and cozy. Pulling them up I loved the way they felt and where they sat on my waist. They weren’t too high waisted where they give that diaper butt and weren’t riding below my hips. If I was being honest, I would have gone even one more size larger for an even more oversized fit, but I was pleased, nonetheless. I will say I recommend running them through the wash before you wear them to avoid leaving any lint on socks or under garments. I tried on the black and had on white tube socks. Needless to say, when I removed them there was black lint all over my socks. Nothing a lint roller can’t fix but equally annoying just the same.

Airport Swag

I slipped on the grey to ensure they both fit the same and didn’t differ due to color selection. They fit exactly the same and I was pleased that they felt just as comfortable! I could tell that the waistband would snatch me up perfectly if I utilized the drawstrings. The ankle cuff hit me exactly where I needed it to, and I played around with hiking it up to test the elasticity. It passed the test and hit all my requirements. I couldn’t wait to wear them and decided I’d spring them into action on an upcoming flight to L.A. I am ALWAYS cold on airplanes and decided I wanted to be comfy and warm in my new joggers. At the risk of over heating I went for a short sleeved band tee and matching socks (socks on flights are a must in case you decide to kick your sneaks off and get really comfy and because being barefoot on an airport floors is a no-no). The flight was short, but I couldn’t have been more and comfy pleased with my new purchase.

My Lewk:

Top|Joggers|Sneakers|Socks|Beanie

I loved the fit so much that I decided to keep them on upon arrival for an early dinner and drinks. Sweatpants are a great addition to anyone’s wardrobe and can be both dressed up and down. I’ve worn these several times since and seriously can’t stop reaching for them. You could easily pair them with a crop plaid print, a beanie, and some combat boots, or a bodysuit, denim jacket and sock boots for a more “dressed up” look. Whatever the occasion I promise you can make sweatpants work.

Let’s add that sauce:

Plaid Blazer|Under Tank|Joggers|Boots|Beanie

Bodysuit|Lace Bralet|Jean Jacket|Joggers|Sock Boots

So what’s the vibe beauties? Do you want to ride the sweat pant train year-round? Will you dress them up and down? What are some of your favorite brands and finds? Fill your gurl in!
