H-EAR ME OUT

H-EAR ME OUT

Hey Beauties! (reporting to you live from the Hyde Beach pool party in South Beach) So listen, I know deciding to pierce any part of your body comes with a ton of thought and factors attached. Others live their best life and just go for it and make that spur the moment decision and that’s the life I love and live. I’m not a huge tattoo person (PERSONALLY) so I turn more towards piercings and get my piercings done at a tattoo shop. Now let me explain… I am slowly building an earring army so I’m not the most experienced BUT I’m getting there. I came to the conclusion that I (for now) wanted to have one fully curated ear (right side) and to leave the other with its 2 holes. I think the thing I love most, is it’s not only another creative outlet but also allows us to express ourselves even more. I consulted tons of inspo photos and just decided what look I personally wanted to go for.

Ear Candy

There’s always a question of where to start and should you get more than one at a time or should you separate each one. I don’t think there’s truly a difference and it really depends on your pain tolerance and preference. I honestly wish I would have just gone for it and got more than one at a time each time I went but I made the foolish decision of picking the ear I sleep on to be my ear of choice so now I have to pick and choose my moves… (YAY ME!)… *SARCASM* I currently have 2 standard lobe piercings, a mid cartilage, and a forward helix. Like I said, I have a LONG way to go. I think I’ve fully committed to getting 2-3 more the next time I make my way back in. I’m not a professional piercer or anything but I can tell you that my forward helix was the easiest out of them all. I felt no pain, swelling, or discomfort whatsoever and was torn between a stud and a hoop. Of course, I went for a black stud in the end and immediately regretted it! I felt that choosing the black one made my new and exciting piercing look like a mole…*eye roll*  I would have chosen a “diamond” or a hoop if I could go back but it is what it is *shrug* I anxiously went to a tattoo shop (not where I got it pierced) and asked to have them switch out my earring and they advised against it and recommended I wait 2-3 more months to change it so take advice from me and take that into consideration. Do your research and consult ear charts and healing times so you are prepared.

My lower cartilage was a totally different story. I wouldn’t say it “hurt” because it didn’t, but it swelled from time to time. Once everything was said and done and the allotted time passed, I was excited to change out my earring and begin my “ear candy” journey.

Charge It To The Ear Game

I quickly became obsessed with purchasing earring sets to figure out what I liked and what worked for me. I am a fan of both gold and silver but personally find that I lean more towards gold. If you want to have the best of both worlds, then I say go for two tone jewelry.  I love to add “huggies”, hoops, studs, I recently bought a dope pair of safety pin earrings from ASOS and am obsessed.

We tend to think we have to wear our earrings as pairs but LISTEN UP… YOU DON’T…..You know how bomb it is to be able to wear 5 of your favorite jewelry pieces at one time?!?! *mind blown* It’s like wearing all your fave handbags at one time. The beauty of jewelry is LAYERS, LAYERS, LAYERS… you can never have enough on. There are so many options that you can go for and decide on. I think strategically planning your ear chart and deciding where you want to start is key. Shopping for earrings is the fun part. You can mix hoops and studs or even personalize your choices and go for initial studs or a dropped piece. I lean more towards simple and dope pieces but to each their own

Fake It Till You Make It

If piercings aren’t your thing or you don’t want to make a decision like putting multiple holes in your ear, they make tons of “faux” earrings that can give you the same effect.

I’ve used them recently and truly enjoy them. It also gives me the motivation to keep the piercings coming (not that I need any) *wink* There’s nothing like rocking a messy top knot and have this accessorized ear. The options are endless when it comes to picking and swapping earrings out. I tend to swap my earrings quite frequently so I lean towards “sets” that have multiple pairs so I can pick and choose.  So, what’s the vibe? Do you have multiple piercings and if so, where? What should I get pierced next? Can you guess what I’m planning to get next? Fill your gurl in!
