KAPPA…KAPPA

KAPPA…KAPPA

Hey Beauties! (Winter is cute and all, but your gurl is ready for Spring… Periodt!) Believe it or not…there is a such thing as a “casual fit” for a “streetwearqueen. There are fits that take minimal effort but give off that “pulled together” look. Jeans and a tee are usually how I move when I’m in this mood. It’s not an everyday thing for me to rock a pair of jeans, but when I do, I usually lean more towards a soft denim as opposed to a thick stiff fabric. It’s crazy for me to think that I’m referring to jeans as “casual” but it is what it is… I said it! *shrug* When I’m shopping for jeans, I always stick to a high waist, whether my oversized tee is going to defeat the purpose of a high waisted jean and cover them completely, I still need to feel pulled in and secure. This brings me to my point, the reason I love a high waist jean is the feeling of being pulled in and smoothing everything under these jeans. I feel like when the waistline of the jeans hits the smallest part of your waist and tucks you all in, Sis… you can’t go wrong… like EVER! Let’s not forget to mention… you don’t have to worry about pulling your pants up over your belly button EVERY TIME you sit down.

Dynamic Duo

On that same note, highwaisted ANYTHING isn’t for everyone, but trust me when I say, its worth a try to throw something on and test it out. Can I ask a quick question? Is “low rise” even a thing anymore? Real talk? I don’t think I’ve seen anything labeled as a “low rise” fit in at least a decade! haha… Obvi I’m being sarcastic… I’m sure some brands are still riding that train and living their best Christina Aguilera circa 2000 life and well, you do you baby boo! I think I made my point with where I stand with jeans so now that we beat that to death, jeans and a tee are such a staple in everyone’s wardrobe and I’m here to break it down. I tend to roll with this combo when I have no plans of any sort and then end up out and about. If you’ve been rocking with me for a bit, I don’t have to explain my obsession with a graphic tee and how easy it is to throw on and make a fit. I do tend to rock graphic tees but do live and love a branded tee as well, now don’t get me wrong I usually like something a bit more subtle when it comes to rocking a brandUNTIL NOW!

Discovered

I haven’t ALWAYS gravitated towards KAPPA, I’d seen a few pieces geared more towards sports and athletic wear and didn’t really pay it any mind when it came to owning any pieces. I will say that the logo was SO dope and always caught my attention, it wasn’t until it made it’s way into the street wear world that I was able to learn how their logo came to be and what it stood for. I’m linking the details HERE so you can get the scoop and come to your own conclusion about the brand. We all know I say whatever I want… it is my blog after all, but I still respect my queens beliefs so I’ll just let everyone check it out on their own. Do I even need an excuse to say I was rolling through Urban Outfitters? Na right? Alright, so I was rolling through Urban… haha and remember randomly seeing a Kappa sweater in the clearance area and thinking “I’ve seen this brand before”“Ooh they’re hopping into street clothes?”.. “I wonder what else they have…”

Unfortunately, the sweater in store wasn’t for me BUT it did spark something in me to hop online and peep the collection. I ALWAYS go for a graphic tee when I’m trying a new brand and highly recommend starting there if you don’t know what you want to pick up. Naturally I made my way to the men’s department of the website and went straight for the graphic tees *wink* There was no explanation or reasoning for me picking the black tee with large white logo… it’s simple, I saw it, liked it, and copped it… Sometimes you just know what you want and need. Now to my very pleasant surprise, there were… wait for it…. Socks as well… like c’mon sis, you know I just had to grab them both.

Here’s The Tea

If you’re an EXTRA a** bish like me and struggle with wearing just a tee and jeans and feel you need that extra sass… I always go for accessories to liven it up. I know in my head that a statement tee (as this one) doesn’t require much for a bottom but I can’t just leave it at that and roll... your gurl needs some dope a$$ trainers, head gear, and in this case… SOCKS! With the jeans being literally as soft as butter and not thick, I was able to rock my socks over the jeans with no bulking or issues. I originally envisioned myself wearing this tee with joggers and these socks which is why I went for a lower crew sock, I had the same intention of the socks over my bottom of choice but once I had the fit on, I felt a little dumpy and just too chill. You have to remember, that’s how I dress 90% of the time so it’s the norm for me… sweatpants, hair tied, chillin’… (Drake voice) are the moves around here always so I like to switch it up even if it’s for a distressed pair of black jeans.

I frequent several sites for jeans but once I find a fit I like, I stay put and ride for them. Fashion Nova is known for a lot of things, both GOOD and BAD but for me, their jeans are FIRE! I purchased these jeans years ago and legit reach for them all the time! They’ve held their shape and don’t fade or stretch out after multiple uses. Find a pair of jeans you ride for and buy them in every color! *evil laugh* Shop my fit below and check out some of my favorite jean/tee combos and how I would spruce them up! *wink*
