Hey Beauties! (am obsessed with Disney+ don’t @ me.. Come thru “Smart Guy” marathon) So your gurl did it again… I copped another Comme des Garcons collab and I’m not sorry... *shrug* I won’t even front and say I discovered these because gurl I didn’t! Another sneaker head near and dear to me put me on to these and I was a little shook that I knew nothing of them. I’m referring to the CDG X Jordan 1 collab, this dope a** sneaker literally speaks for itself just like everything Comme des Garcons drops. I was shook to the core when I actually scoped the shoe online and saw all the details of the shoe. Who doesn’t love the Jordan 1’s first of all? secondly, these had the sickest silver hardware and were giving me major punk rock/moto vibes which coincidentally, has been my go to mood when it comes to styling lately. I am living for leather and grunge and just everything edgy and dark so it took literally no convincing to cop.
Sneaker Gods Be With Me
I had been itching for a new pair of Jordan 1’s and just never committed to a colorway, I didn’t have that sense of urgency to decide on one and just purchase them... till now! The first thing I fell for, was the black colorway.. surprise…surprise… 2nd was the high top silhouette and then immediately after, were the silver rings hanging from the added strap that wrapped around the ankle. That alone had me ready to consult with my “go-to” after market sneaker sites and begin the hunt. Stock X is usually my first stop… if you’re looking for a sneaker, 9 times out of 10 you’ll find them on Stock X (facts) Sure enough, there they were… sitting and waiting for me *sigh* seeing them on the site, and within a few clicks away from being mine… I had to just go for it and cop them. Just like that, come to mama!! One thing I want to mention is these sneakers are MEN’S so know your size, or consult a Jordan conversion chart. *wink* I won’t go into too much detail about how Stock X works but if you want to learn more… check it out here. After several days, I got the anticipated “your order has shipped” alert and it wasn’t until then that I realized “I will now start MY New Year with the dopest shoes on the market”.
I’m Quaking
When I tell you that I was STOKED to receive this package… SIS, a queen was quaking… like there are no words to explain my anticipation, excitement, emotions…and all of the above. I sliced and diced that package and couldn’t open the box fast enough. It was packaged very neatly and the shoe box itself was in great shape. The first thing I looked for (of course) was the green authenticity coin that Stock X adds to one of the shoes to ensure they passed an “authenticity inspection” It was there and now I could take this moment in.
Guys there’s just something about a pair of shoes like these that makes you appreciate the creativity and artistry that goes into designing any piece of fashion. The shoe was soft black leather and the first thing that stood out to me were the silver rings hanging from the buckled strap wrapped around the ankle portion of the shoe. There is a snap button loop at the back of the shoe that keeps the strap in place so it’s not slipping up and down but its not tight to where you cant spin it to your desired placement. I liked showcasing the silver buckle to the front but you do have that option to spin it to to back as well and it won’t budge. The studded eyelets at the front of the shoe by the laces were the perfect addition as well to keep the silver hardware going through out the shoe. They were PERFECT! I think anything more than that would have been a tad too much but leave it to Comme des Garcons to add another subtle detail that truly reinvents the shoe entirely. Believe it or not but it wasn’t until I slipped my foot into the shoe that I noticed the tongue hit me higher than a “normal” sneaker and I was living for it.. the fact that it was hitting me at more of a moto boot/combat boot place… queen… how? how did they come at me like that with such a dope addition to an already bomb a** sneaker? *mind blown*
Cinderella Who?
When my footsies were finally in both shoes…. the earth shifted queens and in a GOOD way! Like with any high top sneaker, I did have to loosen the laces quite a bit to get my foot slipped in (I’d like to think I have pretty narrow feet) and struggled a bit but again, nothing a little loosening of the laces can’t fix. I’ve owned Jordan 1’s before and know they are indeed comfortable and are comparable to the Air Force 1 or a Nike Air Max.. you can’t go wrong in the comfort department. Same went for these, they were definitely comfortable and didn’t rub the back of the ankles or didn’t feel as if they would hit anywhere that would cause blistering at all. Believe me sis.. I’ve (no shade) owned high tops that have torn up my feet but these are perfection. The embellished strap is removable so you can choose to rock them with or without and can also throw them on another boot or sneaker if you’re really trying to get creative with it *wink* I will say tho… are you listening? the world will hear you coming sis… They do indeed jingle to a certain degree… you won’t sound like Santa’s sleigh or anything but people will know a bi**h is COMING..
It is obviously the embellished strap that is causing all that jingle jangle but it wasn’t to the point that it bothered me… When it comes to fashion, I usually don’t let anything stop me from wearing what I want but I can TOTALLY understand that noise bugs people so there is your disclaimer *wink* These shoes are so versatile and that’s what makes me MOST excited! I already rocked these with vinyl leggings and an oversized top (click here to see them in action) and know they will come correct with jeans, joggers, shorts, girl I may even throw them on with a dress or skirt… You know what? Let me SHOW YOU exactly how I would rock these babies!
