THE CHOSEN ONE-SIE

THE CHOSEN ONE-SIE

Hey Beauties… (Sips Champagne) Rompers and jumpsuits are the best addition to the fashion scene. I love a stylish look that does all the work for you, something that you can throw on without thinking and just WERK! Now, I know what you’re thinking… finding the perfect romper is the hard part and trust me, I KNOW! I always try and go for something a little longer in length when it comes to the shorts/skort part to avoid any bunching in the front (camel toe <- hate that word) or a booty cheek peeking out. We’re all friends around here so you know what I’m talking about *wink*.

I LOVE when a website offers the models height and the size she’s wearing. This helps me when it comes to length and fit.  A romper is my go-to when it comes to hitting the town for a dressy vibe because let’s be real… by the time you beat that face and kill a bomb hair style, it’s 3 hours later and we have places to be and drinks to drink.

I realized that a romper is the best way to not be over or under dressed as well. I originally stumbled upon this romper because I was looking for a mesh top on Missguided and this gem popped up in the slew of mesh and immediately demanded my attention. You know those things you buy “just in case” you need it? This was that moment. I don’t normally just “add to cart” like that but this little number just had me confidently choosing my size and making that decision.

The Arrival

I was desperately awaiting my order and when I finally had it in my hands and on my body, I was shook. It had the mesh top that sat right off the shoulders and the sleeves were that perfect length that slightly covers the whole hand and keeps that mesh appearance going for days down the arm. The top was indeed unlined so I went for a bandeau, but you could pair a strapless black bra, a crop top, or bodysuit and be perfectly covered. I did have to pull the top down a few times to keep it over the chest area, but it wasn’t something that bothered me or was a deal breaker.

Rompers & Rooftops

I was hitting the downtown area on a Saturday afternoon and always make it a point to stop at one of my favorite rooftop bars “Paramour”. Being that the vibe there is aesthetically pleasing and super dope, I like to come correct and add a dash of “extra”. I didn’t even think twice when I pulled this out of my closet. Fancy for me is throwing on heels and not wearing my beanie okkkuurrr so this was perfect.

I wanted to keep an edge to my look, so I went for a fishnet sock and clear strap sandal (which I am obsessed with & give you more deets on in Kicks & Bits). The fit wouldn’t be MODISH without my Off-White bag. The yellow strap of my purse and fishnets really kept my identity intact hahaha. The fabric was cool and lightweight for a summer night out. I recommend hitting a few target points when you’re shopping for rompers; refer to size charts, reviews, and model stats if they are available (usually located below the model pic). Order your correct size and pay attention to materials, remember that stretchy fabrics tend to cling to every part of your body whereas thicker fabrics don’t always have a ton of stretch… But guess what, we can make anything, and everything work in some way.

The “shorts” part of this romper was thicker but had stretch to them. I’ll be honest in saying that the top material looked great on and really added quality to the piece whereas the bottom was a little inexpensive looking. If you wear something with class and sass, no one will question how much your outfit costs. If you find a material too clingy, pull out that shapewear or if something is too tight, get your bestie to pin you up and throw your favorite denim or leather jacket over your shoulders and let’s bounce.

Cheers,
